we all scream for new york city ice cream!
I have been trying to figure out how and what to write about our stay in NYC in mid December of 2009/ early January 2010; there was just too much good stuff going on in the week we stayed there. so over the coming weeks I will try and pick a few of the highlights of the trip. I will try and keep the superlatives in check.
so, ice cream. mmmmmm, ice cream!
I’ll start with Lula’s because Lula’s Sweet Apothecary is a magical MAGICAL place. It’s all vegan and has a cute old-timey ice cream parlor feel and, wow, the flavours are so SO delicious; they have soft serve (!) and many yummy toppings in glass jars. ask for samples to help with your decision. the atmosphere is great and the people running it are charming. I went there twice and if I’d live closer I would go there every single damn day!
On my first visit with Mike, Lisa, Dayna & Terry, I sampled strawberry cheese cake & peanut butter fudge and when I returned with Mike, Melisser and Bazu, I sampled the cake batter soft serve and it is safe to say that this is the best ice cream I ever had! Ever!

& visit them over and over and have some ice cream for me!
Lula’s Sweet Apothecary is located on 516 East 6th Street; 10009 NYC

We also checked out Stogo. Stogo is an all vegan, organic gourmet ice cream parlor. Less welcoming and charming than Lula’s but they stayed open for us when we called and arrived shortly before 11 pm (yep, late night ice cream in winter. it’s how we roll!) and were generous with sampling their flavours; I picked creamsicle!
There is a celebrity connection going on with Stogo that I will let you figure out for yourselves, we had a possible James Iha sighting (or was it Myles from Lost?!) and cupcakes from Babycakes Bakery are available. A+, would visit again!
Stogo is located on 159 2nd Avenue
