sometimes it takes a sick (read quiet) day to muster up the courage to try a new recipe that slightly intimidates you. I have been looking at the Tofu Omelets from Vegan Brunch for months now but never really dared to stand up to the challenge. The other day I took my stuffed nose to the kitchen, though and was more than happy with the results! & the black salt cleared my nose out for a bit. yikes!

filled w/ fried chard and spring onions.
p.s. confession time: the first attempt landed in the trash can.
Sunday Brunch
tofu scrambler
potato wedges
fried tomatoes & spring onions
veggie weenies
avocado & a cup of joe
if you have ever been called “nerd” or “geek” just once in your life you probably know of Werkzeugh, a meeting place, hang out, restaurant, public living room for the creative and geeky.
they serve a really delicious soy latte, rich foam and slightly sweetened milk. i adore it! i am sure it is affordable, too. (i have forgotten to write down the price)

werkzeugh also started to offer a “pay as you wish” brunch every sunday from 11 am to 3 pm (the blog gives different times for some reason; 11:30 to 5 pm). is it a great idea? oh yes! is it vegan-friendly? well, that depends whether you are satisfied with bread and jam (only butter is available), fruit and vegetables. i am not. cubes of tofu are available but the two pans at the diy frying stations (good idea!) are both in use for egg omelettes at all times and a swift wipe with a paper towel just isn’t enough for me.
so, this city is still in dire need of a brunch spot that satisfies us vegans. there’s a market niche for you!

scrambler w/ equal parts of firm and silken tofu, spinach, zucchini, green beans, lemon thyme, tumeric, paprika, garlic salt, salt & pepper, fresh basil
sausage links, toast w/ margarine and a huge piece of yellow water melon.
washed it all down with a cup of coffee.
