Interview with a vegan pt. 1
I have been wanting to start a little series of interviews with some of my favourite vegans for a while now and Vegan MoFo 2009 gave me the extra shove I seem to have needed to begin this fun little project. 4 (four) quick never changing (unless I get sick and bored of them!) questions about veganism, food, vegan foodism posed to the vegans around me. First up is Mike, my favourite vegan. He likes chocolate chip cookies and really dislikes broccoli! Maybe you are next?
.
1. when did you go vegan?
I went vegetarian in 1999, followed by my entry into veganism in 2001. I gave up the dairy and replaced it with heaping amounts of vegan schnitzel and goulash.
2. finish this sentence: veganism is awesome because…
I get to eat large amounts of healthy vegan dishes without as large an environmental footprint.
3. what is your favourite vegan dish to make/cook, what is your favourite vegan dish to eat?
I’m a big fan of traditional Austrian meals, lots of hearty soups, hearty stews and of course dumplings, lots of dumplings. Whether I’m cooking them, or just eating them, pour a little goulash on top of some dumplings and I’m there.
4. list everything you have eaten today (so far).
I had a traditional Austrian breakfast, coffee and fresh baked bread, followed by a hearty vegan stew with chickpeas, potatoes and peas for lunch and a grilled piece of seitan in a fried onion sauce and dumplings with a side salad for dinner. As I said, I love the hearty meals.
